myM-link member Smallfry have been announced as the winners of "Industrial Product Design" at the Design Week Awards 2010 for the Ferroguard product range for Metrasens. Designed by Metrasens and Smallfry, two Midlands-based specialists, the unique metal detection system for MRI scanning suites is already saving money and saving lives across the UK and in the US. The central magnet in an MRI scanner has such a powerful attraction to ferrous metals, that it can hurl a porter’s trolley through a room, or rip a device from the body of a patient.

Now it's Curtains for Bacteria says SMI

Following five years of research a huge hygiene breakthrough has been achieved by myM-link member, Seymour Manufacturing International (SMI). Bio-Gard enriched with SteriTouch is a plastic strip curtain that kills 99.99% of illness causing pathogenic bacteria including MRSA, E-Coli and Salmonella. Significantly the curtain does not lose efficacy over time and the bacteria killing property is active throughout the matrix of the material. This means it works even if the curtain is cut or damaged.

Renewed optimism in the future of UK Life Sciences
