Challenges in medical equipment design and development
Challenges in medical equipment design and development
It can be surmised that the availability of many elements of modern technology now opens up new areas for medical device development. At the same time regulatory requirements in the form of safety standards and compliance with the Medical Devices Directive can tend to restrict translation of new concepts into new products.
The meeting seeks to identify general aspects of opportunities for innovation involving medical devices and the existing mechanisms that are in place to encourage and foster such developments – within the NHS and elsewhere. In particular, it is hoped to identify how aspects of modern industrial issues relating to the associated regulatory and device safety frameworks and how these can be successfully navigated.
