Patents with a Medical Spin
Thursday 11th December 2008
9.30am – 12.30pm
MedilinkWM Meeting Room, Birmingham
The UK is widely acknowledged as an innovator in the medical sector, yet many of these innovations are inadequately protected. This seminar will provide an opportunity to learn how protection can be obtained.
The seminar will also provide delegates with the opportunity to learn more about Intellectual Property and what IP can do for your business. Not only is this seminar ideal for anyone new into the industry, but also as a refresher course for portfolio managers within the industry and solicitors.
The seminar will cover:
1 An Introduction to IP
2 Why patents are important
3 The structure of a patent
4 Patentable inventions
5 Protecting medical devices
6 Protecting chemical compounds
7 Protecting biomolecules
8 Protecting animals and plants
9 Other forms of protection for medicinal products
10 The information that a patent attorney needs
11 Recording the invention: notebook practise
After the seminar there will be the opportunity for a free, one-to-one consultations with the speakers. These sessions need to be booked in advance.
